On the morning of Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in Graham, North Carolina, tragic events unfolded as Emma Leigh Rowland, a 20-year-old teacher’s assistant at Eastlawn Elementary School, became involved in a fatal car accident.
The incident occurred on Lindley Mill Road while Emma was driving her 2004 Toyota Corolla in the northbound direction.
It was at this point that a 2021 Ford F-550 truck, driven by 35-year-old Alex Michael Millager of Siler City, collided with her vehicle, resulting in the unfortunate outcome as reported by local media.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Millager failed to adhere to a stop sign on Moores Chapel Cemetery Road, leading to a collision with Rowland’s vehicle.

Despite the immediate response of first responders, Rowland was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Remarkably, Millager emerged from the collision unharmed, with the patrol affirming that neither speed nor impairment played a role in the incident.
The Alamance County District Attorney’s Office is set to confer with investigators to assess the crash, and potential charges against Millager are pending.
In the aftermath, Lindley Mill Road at Moores Chapel Cemetery Road was closed for approximately three hours to facilitate the investigation and was subsequently reopened by the highway patrol.
